Google Ads Search Intent Mapping Prompt

Use your own search-term or keyword list. The prompt deliberately excludes search-volume and CPC estimates because those must come from an appropriate tool or account data. Negative-keyword suggestions are candidates for review, not automatic instructions to block traffic.

The complete prompt

Act as a Google Ads search-intent analyst. Work only with the query list and business context below. Do not invent search volume, CPC, conversion rates or demand estimates.

Business, products or services: [DETAILS]
Locations served and exclusions: [DETAILS]
Eligible and ineligible enquiries: [DETAILS]
Existing offerings and landing pages: [DETAILS]
Real query list: [PASTE QUERIES]

Return a table with:
1. Query exactly as supplied.
2. Intent category: transactional, commercial investigation, informational, navigational, support, irrelevant or unclear.
3. Likely user need and any ambiguity.
4. Suggested campaign and tightly themed ad group, using the existing structure where appropriate.
5. The most relevant supplied landing page, or “new page needed” without inventing a URL.
6. Negative-keyword candidate and match-type question for human review, where relevant.
Then summarise structural overlaps, ambiguous queries and information needed before launch. Do not recommend adding a negative keyword when it could block a valid service or location.

Prepare the query list

  • Keep the original wording, including spelling variations and mixed languages.
  • Include the market and actual products or services so relevance can be judged.
  • Provide existing landing pages and location exclusions.
  • Remove account identifiers or customer information that is not necessary for the analysis.

How to use the map

Review intent groups before changing campaign structure. A separate ad group is useful when it helps match the message and landing page to a distinct need—not merely to create more containers.

Negative-keyword safeguards

  • Check whether a word appears in valuable long-tail queries before excluding it.
  • Distinguish irrelevant intent from a merely unexpected phrasing.
  • Review match-type behaviour in current official documentation.
  • Keep a record of why each exclusion was added and revisit it with real search-term data.
