AI for CVs, LinkedIn and Job Applications—Without Inventing Experience

AI can make a job search more organised, but application quality still depends on accurate experience and role fit. Begin with a master CV containing verified dates, employers, job titles, responsibilities, measurable results and tools. Keep it as the source of truth. No prompt guarantees interviews or applicant-tracking-system success.

Create one verified source of truth

Before tailoring, reconcile your CV, LinkedIn profile and official records. Resolve inconsistent employment dates and titles rather than asking AI to choose a version.

  • Employers, locations, dates and exact role titles.
  • Responsibilities and concurrent brand or project scope explained accurately.
  • Results with their source, reporting period and correct metric definition.
  • Tools and certifications you actually used or earned.
  • Contact details and a readable, accessible master document.

Map each vacancy to actual evidence

  1. Identify five to eight essential requirements in the job description.
  2. Match each requirement to a real responsibility, project or result from your master CV.
  3. Mark unsupported requirements as gaps rather than generating experience to fill them.
  4. Rewrite relevant bullets for clarity without adding tools, budgets, certificates, team sizes or achievements.
  5. Create a concise summary, LinkedIn headline and outreach note aligned with the role.

A useful comparison prompt

Prepare and review the whole application

  • Practise STAR-style interview examples using real situations and results.
  • If a metric is unknown, explain impact without inventing a number.
  • Check that dates, titles and claims agree across CV, LinkedIn and application.
  • Read the final language aloud and remove generic self-praise.
  • Test that the exported PDF has selectable text, working contact links and a sensible reading order.
  • Adapt to the local hiring market without fabricating local experience or work rights.
